Depending on the vehicle, it may be easier or necessary to remove the accelerator pedal and reinstall it with SmartPedal already attached as an alternate method to perform Steps 1-3.
In most cases, a 10 MM or 3/8” socket or open-end wrench will remove the two or three bolts that hold the pedal assembly in place.
When re-installing the pedal, make sure all bolts are in place and properly torqued according to the manufacturer’s specifications.

For your safety, if you need to remove the accelerator pedal, utilize the services of a trained professional.
If you do remove the accelerator pedal by yourself during installation, ensure that it is fully re-installed, secure, and all bolts properly tightened before attempting to operate your vehicle.
