SmartPedal utilizes probabilistic analysis to identify when unwanted changes in power occurs and how much correction to apply. To make a fuel-saving correction, the system must first reach a threshold determination that a change in power was most likely unwanted.
The variables that control these changes are contained in the driving modes. By switching between these modes, you can change the frequency and extent of corrections.
SmartPedal usually ships in Mode 3 by default which is designed to be unnoticeable for most drivers and yet deliver strong mileage performance. In our view, this mode usually represents the best compromise between better mileage and preserving the driving experience.
The more conservative Modes 1 and 2 are designed to make adjustments invisible to all drivers. Modes 4 and higher are increasingly aggressive and noticeably impact mileage, but are designed to generate better mileage.
