Changing modes is only possible after SmartPedal is calibrated. If this is a fresh install, make sure to calibrate SmartPedal manually ( see related article ) or drive the vehicle for an hour or two to allow SmartPedal to calibrate itself automatically.
These are the steps to change modes on a calibrated SmartPedal:
-
Vehicle should be on a level surface with gearshift in park and parking brake fully engaged. Turn vehicle OFF, leave open the driver's side door, and wait three (3) minutes.
-
Turn on power to the accelerator pedal, but do not turn on the engine. We describe how to do this in this article.
-
With the engine still OFF, press accelerator pedal to floor and hold it in this position. The LED built into SmartPedal will start to flash red once every two seconds for the first minute.
-
After one minute of continuously pressing the pedal to the floor, the rate of flashing will double in speed to once a second. At this time, fully release the pedal and then press it to the floor a number of times equal to the mode you want. Do so briskly however: you have a 10-second window to make this change after the first push.
After the 10-second window closes, the LED will show a number of short orange flashes equal to the new operating mode. The mode you selected will be the new default every time the vehicle starts.
When the orange flashes have completed, the LED built into SmartPedal will intermittently flash green—this is SmartPedal's "heartbeat" during normal operation and indicates good device health.
